The tasks a Cashier, General is expected to perform include:
- Making and receiving payments
- Maintaining record of the cash transactions in bank, office, commercial and industrial establishments
- Receiving cash remittances from the customers
- Maintaining the cashbook and other account registers
- Verifying the statement of account from other daily records for actual receipt and payment
- Keeping the cash and other valuables in strong rooms or vaults for safe custody
- Rendering a periodical report on cash transactions to superiors
- Making the payment of wages and salaries to the staff against acquaintance rolls, pay bills, etc.
