The tasks a Laboratory Assistant, Physical is expected to perform include:

Assisting in carrying out routine duties in a physical laboratory
Setting up the required apparatus and instruments in the correct position for conducting experiments and research work
Making necessary electrical connections to equipment and instruments as required
Recording routine and other observations as indicated by the instruments
Making necessary calculations
Removing the apparatus when not in use
Cleaning and maintaining the apparatus to maintain its good condition
​Performing minor repairs to equipment and apparatus
Storing and maintaining the account of instruments, equipment, apparatus, etc, if required​
